The concept of RAAC was developed in the 90s by Professor Kehlet in colon surgery in order to allow patients to regain the greatest possible autonomy as quickly as possible after the operation.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So from the evening of your colectomy procedure, you will be offered something to eat and drink.

 

The urinary catheter will be removed the same evening or the next day and you will be able to walk around as quickly as possible.​​​​​​​

 

This approach also helps to limit post-operative complications and allows you to return home more quickly, 3 days after colectomy if your health status allows it.
